New York city, 38th floor of the UN Glass Palace, the UN Secretary-General António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres met ‘Lo spirit di Stella’ team: Andrea Stella, Corrado Sulsente and Loris Bellio, the protagonists of WOW (Wheels on Waves) project. Together with them, there were also the diplomatic representations of Italy and San Marino, that made possible this prestigious meeting.
The Secretary-General gave to Andrea the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, signed in his own hand, to seal an important document, already ratified by 166 Nations, but not enough well known yet.
This document will be kept inside the catamaran, during the entire journey that begins this week from New York and will arrive in Rome, in September. At this last stage, WOW team will consign the Convention to Pope Francis.
During this meeting, Andrea Stella, who was very excited, wanted to underline the aims of this challenge: ' Receiving the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities from the most important UN delegate, gave me a great responsibility. The purpose of our project is to communicate the people’s rights, whatever their condition and prove that nothing is impossible if you have a goal. With this delivering , WOW project is officially launched!’
